About J.A.B UK

The aim of JAB UK is to be a centralised point for all Mountain Biking news in the South East. For us to achieve this however we are always looking for help from you. You could consider the homepage as a pin board of news and articles for all disciplines of biking, collected from various sources and put in a centralised point. If you know of something happening that we've missed out on or need some extra support get in touch now and we'll see what can be done.

The rest of this page aims to give you a backgound on the JAB machine. Enjoy...

The name J.A.B has its humble beginnings back in 1999. This was formed by a group of three riders each initial of their first name forming the J,A and B. A fairly standard formula in that case... It all started off with the typical photographing local riding sessions thing, which soon got put into a seasonal photo magazine. Over time, riders who joined us came and went (mainly 'grew' out of riding) but the name stuck almost as a brand. Photo sessions expanded to DVD's, which expanded to the web. Which ever it was, the simple initiative to illustrate that the South East is for riding bikes was put first.

The People Behind J.A.B UK

Name: Ben Wain

Duties: Web & news editing, Photography, Filming, Forum admin.

Rides: As varied as possible. Mainly Downhill and Shore though.

Local spot: You could say The Bull Track but tend to try and keep it varied.

What do you like/ appreciate? I think it's good when someone stands up for what they belive is right. It's good to be individual and not like a sheep, having to do what the rest do. So many people belive there is only one way to live nowadays!

And dislike? Jock behaviour/ bad atmosphere at races. Also webmasters who don't reply to emails!

What is it you enjoy about Biking? It has to be escaping the rubbish. Fresh air and a good trail clear your head! I'm happy shaping trails or riding, as long as its bike related. There is also nothing quite like overcoming a fear in riding.

What has J.A.B work taught you? You hear about it when you don't do something right, and you don't hear anything when you're doing it right.

Name: Jason Wain

Duties: Photography, filming, editing and second opinion!

Rides: Whatever is nearest, but DH & FR are preferred.

Local spot: Not many since they got trashed... a couple of secret spots and the Bull Track.

What do you like/ appreciate? People who don't take themselves too seriously and are just in it for the fun.

And dislike? People who take themselves too seriously! Over competitiveness, snob-ishness, and people who expect they can just have your photos for nowt. Also people who think downhill is for lazy people.

What is it you enjoy about Biking? There's so many things - 'a great way to keep fit' doesn't even begin to describe it. Sitting at the top of a mountain with your bike on a fresh summer's morning. Going out for a giant pizza, completely knackered after a hard day's shredding in the alps. - These pretty much sum it up. If you've done it you'll know!

What has J.A.B work taught you? My part is only small but from what I do and from what I see, it's taught me that there's a lot of time and effort involved that goes unnoticed.
